Upcoming Event: “Transformational economics” Monday 1st October

Enough is enough? Transformational economics for a fairer society

Monday 1 October, 1930 – 2030, The Palace Hotel, Director’s Suite – open to the public, all welcome

Our economic model is being challenged with the crises of the world financial system, rising debt and unbridled resource consumption. Meanwhile the gap between rich and poor widens. What does a sustainable economy look like? Could a minimum living wage, a maximum wage, and a shorter working week deliver fairness and wellbeing? What other changes could be made to the structure of the economy to redress the balance?

Cllr Sue Murphy (Deputy Leader, Manchester City Council)
Simon Danczuk MP
Neil McInroy (Director, Centre for Local Economic Strategies)
Paul Routledge (Daily Mirror)
Chaired by Jane Thomas (Friends of the Earth)
